Introducing our new practicum partner: Paper Airplanes
World TESOL Academy is thrilled to announce our new partnership with Paper Airplanes, a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities to individuals affected by conflict.
This new partnership marks an important milestone in our commitment to expanding access to quality English language education worldwide. Through this collaboration, we are able to bring together our expertise in education with Paper Airplanes’ proven virtual teaching model that has been changing lives since 2014.
About Paper Airplanes:
Paper Airplanes is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to bridging gaps in language, higher education, and professional skills training for individuals of all genders who have been affected by conflict.
Their journey began back in 2014 with a simple yet powerful idea: connecting volunteer tutors with Syrian students who needed to practice English.
What started as informal Skype sessions has since grown into a comprehensive educational platform that has helped thousands of conflict-affected individuals continue their education despite challenging circumstances.
Since their start, they’ve developed 3 virtual training programs to help their students to pursue virtual education and employment opportunities — English Program, Women in Tech (WiT), and Professional skills development.
English Program:
Through their English program, they provide one-on-one English tutoring and group speaking classes, all delivered virtually to ensure accessibility for students in conflict-affected regions.
Over the years, they have helped connect more than 3550 students with 4550 English tutors from several regions around the world to create educational opportunities for mutual learning and cultural exchange.
Our expanded teaching practicum:
Together with Paper Airplanes, we’re expanding our teaching practicum to provide our graduates with more opportunities to gain valuable hands-on teaching experience while supporting individuals of all genders in conflict-affected regions around the world.
This new partnership marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long-term collaboration to expand educational opportunities globally and make quality English language education more accessible to those who need it most.
We look forward to working alongside Paper Airplanes to support teachers and students around the world on their educational and professional journeys while making a meaningful global impact through English language learning.
