Korean Horizons – Teach English in Korea
- Teaching English in public schools through the EPIK/GOE/CNOE education programs.
- 22 classes per week, each class being 40-50 minutes in length.
- Classes are held from 8.30 am-4.30 pm, Monday to Friday.
Salary:
Salaries range from 2 million won to 2.7 million won (approx $1,750-$2,400 USD) per month depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
Airfare:
Teachers will be given an allowance of 1.3 million won to be used towards their in-bound flights. This is paid 2 weeks after arriving in Korea.
An outbound allowance of 1.3 million won will also be provided again at the end of your contract. This can be kept as a bonus if you choose to stay in Korea, or could be used towards flights home if you choose otherwise.
Housing:
Teachers will be provided with a basic but comfortable studio apartment – rent-free. Each studio apartment includes a bed, table, chairs, TV, separate kitchen facilities, refrigerator, washing machine, separate bathroom with a western toilet.
Utilities (electricity, gas & water) need to be paid for out of your wages, and usually costs between $50 to $150USD per month depending on your usage.
Requirements:
To be eligible to teach with the government-run EPIK/GOE/GNOE programs, Korean law requires all candidates to meet the requirements below.
- To be born in the USA, Canada, the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia or South Africa and have a valid passport from this country. If you were not born in one of these countries, then you must have been educated in one of them since the age of 12 for at least 10 years.
- To have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution from one of the countries listed above.
- To have a clean countrywide criminal history.
- To be within 20 – 62 years of age.
It’s also highly recommended to have an accredited 120-hour TESOL/TEFL certificate.
