Hiring ESL teachers for public schools in the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan is seeking passionate and dedicated English Language Teachers to join its progressive education system. This is an incredible opportunity to explore the rich culture of at the heart of Central Asia, while also making a meaningful impact on the lives of students.
About the positions
Successful applicants will teach a range of students from 10-16 years of age in government-registered public schools. The government will help to pay for air tickets to/from Uzbekistan (up to a certain value), and will also be responsible for ensuring that you have suitable accommodation upon arrival.
In return, they’ll be expecting inspired teachers who will be able to deliver well-planned lessons throughout their 1-year contract.
Location: Tashkent, The Republic of Uzbekistan
Job type: Classroom-based ESL position
Starting: September 1, 2023 – May 31, 2024
Hours: Full-time
Students: Ages 11-16
Responsibilities
- Teach English to secondary school students (grades 7 through 11)
- Organize clubs and extra-curricular activities twice a week
- Plan and prepare the necessary resources for the lesson
- Mark and provide appropriate feedback on students’ oral and written work
- Track students’ progress at the end of each term
- Cooperate with the assistant teacher (local English language teacher)
- Conduct workshops for local English language teachers

Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. Ideal candidates would have a degree in a related field (linguistics, education, etc) though exceptions could be made.
- A recognized TESOL certificate*
- Previous teaching experience at the secondary/high school level would be preferable.
- Experience of living/teaching abroad is highly desirable.
- Native English speaker or native-like fluency (C1 level)
The World TESOL Academy 120-hour TESOL/TEFL course has been approved by the ministry in Uzbekistan for use with this position.
