Teaching internship in Spain

After completing your online course you’ll fly to Spain to start your practicum.

Moving abroad to teach English can be daunting, but our program provides a supportive and welcoming environment for a smooth transition. Experience a new culture, make lifelong friends, and give back to the local community that offers this fantastic opportunity to teach English in Spain.

A supportive school environment

Develop teaching skills with the support of your school

Each teacher will be assigned to a government-registered school which will have been screened carefully in advance. Your school will know that you’re a new teacher and a tutor will be appointed to help you adjust and guide your development through the program.

You’ll begin by assisting a lead teacher who will conduct classes with your support. Over time you’ll learn from them, build skills, confidence, and start to take on more responsibilities.

Experience life in Spain

Immerse yourself in the Spanish region of Catalonia

During the internship portion of your course, you’ll spend 3 months becoming a true local in Catalonia, North-East Spain.

You’ll be able to explore the stunning coastlines of Costa Dorada and Costa Brava, basking in the sun on pristine beaches. Stroll through the vibrant cities of Barcelona and Terrassa, indulging in their rich culture and lifestyle. Immerse yourself in the Catalan/Spanish language, and then treat your taste buds to the exquisite local cuisine, including delightful dishes like “Escudella i carn d’olla” (a hearty stew).

This unique opportunity will let you experience daily life in a way that tourists miss out on, all while earning valuable teaching skills.

Host family in Catalonia

Experience the warmth and hospitality of a vetted host family

Each teacher will stay with a carefully selected host family from the local region. These host families are passionate about cultural exchange, and volunteer to open their homes to provide you with a comfortable and enriching stay.

From sharing delicious homemade meals to engaging in lively conversations, you’ll truly get to live like a local and forge unforgettable memories. Your host family will offer guidance, support, and a sense of belonging, ensuring that your teaching journey in Spain is not only educational but also a truly authentic experience.

In the same way that you’ll learn from your host family, you’ll also be able to share culture from your home country.

Teaching responsibilities

Ease yourself into teaching with a manageable workload

Each teacher will be given a manageable workload and schedule to help you start teaching without being overwhelmed. Your lessons will include a variety of activities, but will mostly focus on improving the speaking skills of your students.

  • Assigned to teach at a single school in Catalonia.
  • Teaching 20 classroom hours per week.
  • Responsibilities will include helping to teach the curriculum materials.
  • Improving the abilities of students with a focus on speaking skills.

It’s important to keep in mind that while this is a volunteer teaching internship, it’s still essential to be punctual and dedicated to your work.
